Photo 6 Jun Sketch that I did for my idea of “the best alarm clock ever”. I plan on making some changes and turning this into a properly spec’d out wireframe some day. One change I notice immediately is that AM/FM should be a separate button—it should only be one slider that goes “Alarm | iPod | AM | FM”.
One feature I’m most proud of is the concept of an “armed” indicator. I currently have the Neverlate 7-Day Alarm, but my mild obsessive compulsiveness requires that I always hit the snooze button to confirm that the alarm is set. To address this, I would include two thing light panels which frame the time display. If the lights are on, then the alarm is set. I would also change the color of the backlight display to red, as this wavelength of light has the least affect on our night vision. Our eyes are more perceptive to blues and even more so to greens, which give a greater “shock” when reviewing the time after our eyes have adjusted to the dark.
